Images as Activism
It's time. If our words can't be heard, maybe our images can be. Maybe our songs, films, poems, photographs, stories, posters, murals, walls, tee shirts, jewelry, haircuts, and tattoos can speak our truth. Concern is truth. Chaos is truth. Murder is truth. Guns are truth. Hate and Racism art truths. Peace is truth. Society is part myth part dream. Politics is part evil part waste. Corporations are part blood part bones. Time is part sleep. Time is part awake. What time is it?
In every generation there are social issues. Todays' no different. In fact it is the culmination of generations that took the rights, freedoms and liberties, that created opportunities that weren't always in
the best interest of its people. Gun Violence, Pollution, Climate Change, Education, Health Care, are just a few. Corporations and organizations, large and small found ways to steer discourse, divisive ideology, create laws, all through our system of democracy and on many issues, reversed what would be good for our country and society. Issues like pollution rather than environmental protection, influencing politicians with Citizens United on Gun Advocacy rather than Gun Safety, Monsanto on GMO, designer food, bad water, air and land. Voter suppression, Gay Rights, racism, climate change, education and health care, are just to name a few. The more we speak about social consciousness through images, the more we can protect a "social democracy". "People, Planet and Prosperity"..for all. Activism Through Art - get involved.
